Innovative functional materials and associated technologies for development of new and improved chemical sensors (MICS)

Objective

Today there is a lack of easy to use, rapid & reliable tools able to characterize test and smell of industrial products dedicated to human consumption. Human sensory panels: it is highly expensive, time-consuming & suffers from lack of objectivity and reproducibility. Existing gas sensors arrays or "electronic noses": due to poor diversity in sensors materials existing gas sensors are non-selective, and only the gas phase of products is analyzed. The project aims to develop innovative functional materials and associated technologies to design liquid sensors array and a new generation of gas sensors array with improved selectivity and sensitivity. Combination of liquid sensors array and new generation of gas sensors array will allow measurements of a sample in liquid and gas phases. Thus cross-sensitive liquid and gas-sensor arrays will enable a complete, fast and reliable analysis of a product in terms of taste& smell.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
