Longitudinal welding by the laser and/or the plasma laser process of high grade pipelines up to 16 mm thick for energy transport

Objective

The overall objective of this project is to produce a high-grade steel pipe with high toughness properties and resisting to hydrogen cracking, both in the base metal as well as in the welded zone. This product with a very high added value will be used on a promising market, that of high volume energy transport (gas) and complies with improved environmental respect. This product is produced using the laser welding technique. The main deliverables suitable for exploitation at the end of the project are the following: Development of a new technology based on plasma/ laser welding for large pipe with thick section, a development of base metal and filler wires, the introduction of functional and integration specifications regarding the welding machine for line pipe production lines, drafting of guideline based on all the results obtained in this project.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
