Development of a sensor for no based on a hybrid organic-semiconductor device for detection of asthma

Objective

SENTIMATS will develop a new type of hybrid organic/inorganic sensors capable of application in several industrial sectors and then to apply the new technology for measuring specifically the content of nitric oxide (NO) in exhaled air for monitoring asthma. For developing the sensor the partners in SENTIMATS intend to investigate the parameters controlling the hybrid structure. Specifically, the nature of the bond between the organic molecules and the semiconductor surface in order to be able to form reproducible and stable organized organic layer. How the electric potential changes across a two dimensional organized layer and what is the role of the organized 2D structure versus a non-organized one. The parameters in the semiconductor structure (doping and layers) that are affecting the sensitivity of a new hybrid sensor towards NO .
