Objective
At present a whole new class of carbon based materials has become available and new synthetic routes are being developed for the synthesis of extremely large two or three dimensional dendritic polyphenylenes which can be suitably transformed into perfect two dimensional graphene structures with pre-assigned shape. These large molecules are the basic units of nanostructured materials which exhibit peculiar physical and chemical properties.
The project focuses mainly at exploring and exploiting the capability of these functional materials :
i) to store Lithium ions at a concentration larger than that of the presently available carbon materials and
ii) to adsorb and desorbs efficiently hydrogen.
The aim of this project is to find the essential steps to provide materials really innovative for industry and technology in the field of batteries and storage of clean energy.
