Material engineering of cvd diamond: deffects tailoring for optimised tissue equivalent linear radiotherapy dosimetry and other passive electronic applications

Objective

The RTD proposal DIAMOND (Growth, M&T) focuses on the polycrystalline CVD diamond technology, an R&D field where European Labs are among the world leaders. Main objective is to transform this scientific leadership into an economic value. Technical objectives are: to develop tailored polycrystalline CVD diamond films; to develop improved manufacturing technology for the diamond film surface treatment; to develop dose rate linear and tissue equivalent radiotherapy dosimeters; to develop radiation detectors; to establish new knowledge apt to exploit CVD diamond in several electronic applications. The technology will be directly transferred to the SME and Industry Partners. The benefits for European Society will be: exploitation of a qualified and growing market in radiotherapy dosimetry and radiation detection and in the whole field of the passive applications of the diamond.
