Development of adapted steel parts forged under semi-solid conditions for the industrial market

Objective

The aim of the project is the development of adapted steel parts for the semi-solid forging (thixoforging). The Thixoforming technology offers by the processing in the melting-interval (semi-solid range) the possibility to manufacture complex shaped parts in a single step forming operation with very low forces. To use the total advantages of this innovative technology an adapted design of the parts with the regard to the filling behaviour of the semi-solid material is necessary. Further on a weight reduction and increase of the mechanical properties should be reached. Therefore a complete process chain, beginning from the modification of steel for the thixoforging process to the testing of the redesigned and thixoforged parts will be investigated and build-up under the view of a industrial and reliable application.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
