Objective
Whilst chrome plating has excellent and unique characteristics, chromic acid - which is used in this process - is a very strong oxydant and highly corrosive. Hence, the protective linings of the tanks containing the chromic acid need to be replaced every 3-4 years. A novel resin promises a high corrosion resistance against chromic acid and other aggressive chemicals and would be suitable as a tank lining material, as well as a protective floor coating for the chrome plating industry. Research is required to provide a sound scientific understanding of the resin's properties.
This project aims to research, develop, manufacture and test a new tank lining which consist of a combination of polymers. Also, investigations should be directed towards further optimize the properties and/or the manufacturing process.
