Objective
The objective of this project is to develop and construct a new type of pulse combustion system for the production of nanosized powders. The pulse combustion technology would enable a faster production of high quality powders for use, in for instance, the ceramic industry at lower costs, at lower energy consumption and with a significant reduction of the environmental contamination. A reduced production costs would enable more markets to profit from the use of these nanosized powders, which, moreover, have a higher quality. At this moment the production costs of these nanosized powders in general is extremely high, which limits the application fields. The objectives would be met by the innovative production of nanosized powders via a pulse combustion system.Nanosized powders have emerged as an important product for high performance components whose worldwide markets are expected to reach Euro 5 billion by the year 2001. With the new high quality nanopowders the life span of its end-products is expected to increase with 20 %.
