Objective
Policy makers in EU are applying stricter limits on some of existing materials and substances in response to mounting concerns about their adverse impact on human health. As an effective response to these regulations European manufacturers are striving towards new technologies in material efficiency, exploring alternative fuels, search for lighter substitute materials and, in particular, to make light-weight products in the European market more available. One method of meeting the legislation goals is to reduce vehicle weight by means of proper choice of light-weight materials and innovative processing technologies. Due to their density values light weight aluminum and magnesium alloys are ideal candidates to substitute traditional, heavier steels and iron-based alloys currently widely used: for comparison: densities for steel 7.85 aluminum 2.7 magnesium 1.8 g/cm^3. In fact the use of light alloys positively affects driving performance and the absorbing capability of pressure in Mg alloys significantly improves the vehicle's crash resistance. The European SME proposers will be united to test and study novel materials based on Mg alloys and will contribute to the European standardization initiative. An Italian company PLASTAK ENGINEERING s.r.l. and a Slovenian firm Cell amp d.o.o. together with other partners of the Project (to be sought during the ...

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
