Objective
The project aims at developing a new type of helmet liners, meeting high quality and safety standards. This objective will be addressed using the following innovative tools:
1) a new production technology, based on the design of an innovative press for polystyrene where the mould is horizontal and the stamping action takes placevertically;
2) a correspondingly new production line, fully integrated with the press and making the process faster and more effective than the present one;
3) the study and realization of a new polystyrene material, with safety performances and mechanical properties comparable to the ones possessed by present Japanese prototypes liners with the polystyrene distributed in various bands of different elasticity, for improved comfort and safety performances. Several applications to different plastic materials and objects are also foreseen.
