Metallurgical characterization of the endogenous reaction phenomena.dross related defects

Objective

A general approach to this project refers to the problems of reactions found on big sized pieces, manufactured on cast iron treated with magnesium, and it allows introducing new concepts on design, minimizing the thickness and, therefore, the final weight of the part. The elimination or reduction of the presence of endogenous reaction compounds, generally known as "DROSS DEFECTS", takes into account advanced tools of simulation, the use of new systems to filter liquid metal and demands the mastering of the iron metallurgy. Big pieces manufactured for Aero generators that are subjected to high requirements in service have very restricted specifications ; being established well-defined limits to the reaction phenomena, because the irregularities of this nature in components are not allowed. Taking these factors into account it is expected that small and medium companies, which belong to the Wind Energy Sector and to the Foundry Sector of Ferrous Metals, will obtain important benefits.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
