Objective
In the automotive industry, measuring and quality testing are currently solved by conventional measuring procedures, which are very time-intensive and expensive. In many cases conventional measuring procedures (optical and tactile) can only be used with great disadvantages compared to computed tomography (CT) based measurement. Internal geometries of complex parts can only be digitized after the part is sawn, which automatically leads to losses in data and difficulties in post-processing, e.g. alignment of the different data-sets, and of course, a destroyed part. The major objective of the project is to accelerate and optimize the process of part and tool validation of non-destructive testing by CT for first article inspection of complex parts.
Knowledge about the fundamental influence of scanning parameters on the accuracy of the CT images. Software tools for high-effective and high-accurate processing of industrial greyscale images especially for large CT datasets.
A basic software package for the inspection of a CT-measured point clouds against the nominal CAD model.
A software tool for automated wallthickness calculation based on measured triangulated point clouds.
A reproducible and repeatable object positioning systems for CT measurements.
Basic principles and software for adaptive CT scanning.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
