Improvement of transport safety by control of fog production in a chamber (FOG)

Objective

Because fog represents a safety problem in a European scale, the project aims to establish specifications in order to build a "large" fog chamber. Such a device would allow reproducing atmospheric fogs under several levels of visibility. Mainly dedicated to road safety, this tool would offer a lot of perspectives to automotive industry in the largest sense as well as to decision makers to define standards for road equipment and strategies to decrease the negative effects of fog on human and goods transportation. Therefore, the challenge is to produce and maintain a settled level of visibility inside a large closed room. To reach the goal, the project proposes to develop and verify specifications using a scale model of a fog chamber designed according to the outputs of a numerical model of fog production involving based upon theoretical considerations. Intensive testing of innovative components will be carried out in this scale model.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
