Determination of liquid water transfer properties of porous building materials and development of numerical assessment methods (HAMSTAD)

Objective

Present day knowledge of heat, air and moisture (HAM) transfer should enable abettor assessment of the actual performance of building constructions than the commonly used Glaser method. This proposal primarily aims at implementation of that knowledge in building practice, responding to Dedicated Call 7/99/Topic1.7.The main objectives are: to reach consensus on standard methodologies to determine moisture transfer properties with acceptable precision and repeatability; to propose a reference HAM-document, including the basic equations, conditional requirements and benchmarks with performance criteria. This open methodology is adopted instead of a system of deterministic and prescriptive standards, in order to stimulate competitiveness in development of (commercialized) codes.
