Network on advanced mathematical and computational tools in metrology

Objective

The Network aims at ensuring a co-operation between mathematicians, statisticians, metrologists and software engineers to share experiences in the field of advanced measurement software tools and their mathematical and statistical foundations. It will be useful to the smaller or less favored Countries of the EU that cannot invest many resources. Industries needing accurate, efficient and effective measurements because of the significant effect on quality control and financial performance will benefit especially in the instrumentation and software sectors, since metrology has a big impact on the overall quality of industrial products. The need for software validation is no longer a regional issue but at least a European one: test of software aimed at the determination of its metrological characteristics is becoming mandatory.
The coordinating activity will concentrate on five critical areas:
soft tools for instrumentation;
applied mathematics;
statistics for MRA and QS;
metrological databases;
measurement-software validation.
Main expected outputs are:
testing and comparison of new tools and software components;
best-practice and best-use recommendations;
better awareness of the need for portability and reusability. Transfer to industry will be done through a User's Forum.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
