Laser optical measurement of material data under high strain rates

Objective

It is the objective of the project to develop a new laser technique and to derive related evaluation methods for the measurement of mechanical properties of materials under high strain rates. The scientific and technological problems arise by the need for development of new materials and products which should withstand high dynamic loading based on simulation which requires reliable data sets Applications to rise safety are possible in many branches of car-, transport-, and building-industry etc. The innovative approach will apply a laser interference pattern focused on different spots on the material and randomly distributed in homogeneities pass the pattern on rapid movement and reflect the laser light to the photo detector. The detector signals can be converted into velocities and motions during the deformation. The SME partners involved will develop the equipment and investigate locally resolved mechanical properties of materials and products at high strain rates.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
