Online test procedure for ultrasonic cleaning devices for surgical instruments

Objective

During the intended project an online test system for ultrasonic cleaning devices for surgical instruments will be developed. The new system should deliver data about the input of energy into the bath and the distribution of energy inside the bath. First step will be the analysation of different ultrasonic bathes by thermistor probes to get the individual profile of energy distribution. These measurements can't be performed online and only in empty bathes. Next step will be the development of the new sensor system and adjustment and comparison of both. The results will be used to improve the characteristics of ultrasonic bathes. These improved bathes will be used during the clinical part of the project. Side effects of the project will be the development of an artificial test soil to control cleaning results, measurement of the effects of ultrasonic fields on instrument materials, improvement of instrument design and cleaning agent with respect to ultrasonic cleaning and the integration of ultrasonic bathes into washer-disinfectors. The online test system will be a further step to standardize and control reprocessing of surgical devices.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
