Artificial vision system for surface defects detection

Objective

The project aims to develop an innovative and automatic vision system, based on surface inspection techniques, for small high value metallic parts of manufactured articles. The system could be applied to a large number of applications where its availability is strongly requested, presently only partially controlled by human operators through a long procedure of visual inspection, not assuring a zero defects product, slowing down the production cycle and increasing production costs. The intended method is based oh the realization of an innovative "artificial vision system", integrated -with a tailored CAD/CAM system able to acquire the manufactured article outlines and recognize surface defects on the basis of some singular features of each defects. The technical approach to realize the phases mentioned is based on an extensive use of "automated imaging techniques" and "image analysis is software" that will allow the intended VIDET prototype to be very innovative and economically competitive.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
