Health Telematics Project Reports

Objective

HEALTHWATCH will survey telematics projects with clinical and health care applications, for a more effective allocation of EU resources in the field. A database of current projects in the EU, Norway and Switzerland will yield an appraisal of funding trends, project impact on quality care, and the adoption of innovative technologies. Industry and the health care sector will thus gain a better grasp of Member State developments, which is currently hindered by their very varied funding mechanisms. Project design has been sensitive to survey user needs, and a comparative summary for North America is also intended.

Identification, description and evaluation of significant Health Care telematics projects related to clinical and patient care applications in EU countries with summarised US comparison.

A database of current healthcare telematics projects in the EU, Norway and Switzerland will be compiled, and through a formal evaluation of these projects trends in the funding of these projects, the impact of the projects on improving the quality of healthcare and the adoption of innovative technologies will be assessed. A comparative summary will be produced for North America. The study will be undertaken by a consortium of four companies, which have their headquarters in the UK, France, Italy and Spain.

In designing the project care has been taken to meet the needs of a range of users of the results of the survey.

The database will substantially improve the capability of the health community and the industry to assess the status and trends in Member States, where a multiplicity of funding mechanisms hinders a clear understanding of achievements and obstacles to progress. The database will identify current and planned projects throughout the EU, enabling Community resources to be allocated on an effective basis. Sites where pilot trials and demonstrations of applications developed under the Framework programme can take place could also be identified through this project.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
