13th International Symposium on Microsomes and drug oxidations

Objective

The next International Symposium on Microsomes and Drug Oxidations (MDO) will take place in Stresa-Lake Maggiore, Italy, from the 10th to the 14th July of the year 2000. This Symposium, the 13th in the series of MDO Symposia, which are held biannually on the same topic, represents the major international meeting in the field of drug oxidations and deals with genetic and environmental factors which affect in man both the therapeutic efficacy of drugs and the adverse reactions caused by drugs and other exogenous chemical agents. Approximately 700 delegates are expected to attend from the majority of the European Countries and also from the United States, Australia, Canada and Japan. Some of the most important scientists in the field have agreed to participate. The scientific programme will cover the most important advances in the biophysics, genetics and molecular biology of the drug metabolising enzymes. However the major emphasis of the conference will be on the applications of biotechnology and on clinical and toxicological implications of drug metabolism.

These are areas in which there have been very considerable advances in the last few years, with results of great theoretical interest, and also of great relevance to both clinical practice and Pharmaceutical Industry. The topic of the conference is therefore most timely with its multidisciplinary content it will be of great interest to the wider scientific Community and it will also offer contributions with considerable practical implications. The purpose of this application is to secure EC funds to facilitate the participation of young European Scientists, particularly those who have produced good work, but lack the financial resources to present their results at MDO 2000. The prime criterium for selection will be scientific merit; in case of equal merit, preference will be given to female applicants and to applicants from Eastern European Associate States.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
