Objective
The EXoPlanetary Observational Research Team (EXPORT) was awarded 100% of the international observing time of the Canarian observatories in 1998 for their "Planetary Systems: Formation and Properties" project. The excellent instrumentation and observing conditions throughout the observing campaigns enabled them to amass a quite unique database with regard to the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems, the study of the giant exoplanets of nearby stars and the search for new exoplanets. The results obtained will be presented to the international astronomical community in a conference entitled "Disks, Planetesimals and Planets" to be celebrated at Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) from 24 to 28 January 2000.
This conference will also serve to contrast our findings with those made in other wavelength regions by other groups at other ground-based and space-borne facilities and will provide a synthesis of present-day knowledge in the field of exoplanetary formation and evolution, which is now such a timely scientific topic and one which is much in the public eye.
The event is being organized by the EXPORT group in collaboration with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. The Local Organizing Committee comprises the following members: F. Garzón (Chairman), H. Deeg, B. Montesinos, M. Murphy (Secretary) and D. de Winter. The Scientific Organizing Committee consists of the following members: S.C. Eiroa (Chairman), D. de Winter (Vice-Chairman), R. Ferlet, M. Mayor, A. Natta, F. Paresce, A. Penny, A. Quirrenbach, H. Rauer, L. F. Rodríguez, E. van Dishoek and P. Wesselius.
