Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences Summer Schools in Mathematical Sciences Framework Five Series Two

Objective

The Isaac Newton institute for Mathematical Sciences is an international institute, which covers the broad spectrum of mathematical sciences. During 2001 the Institute will hold a number of interdisciplinary programmes and one Euro Summer School will take place during each of two six month programmes, Symmetric Functions and Macdonald Polynomials and Integrable Systems. The Objective is to ensure that the work of the Institute is disseminated more widely in the European Community and that younger people from that community are given the opportunity to participate in workshops and seminars in a wide range of mathematically-related sciences. The programmes are linked by the fact that they all explore an important topic at the cutting edge of the mathematical and related sciences but it is expected that different scientists will attend each, and hence a large number of young people from different disciplines could be involved in the series as a whole.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
