Objective
The IFCS 2000 conference is devoted to Data Analysis and Classification. More than 300 participants will attend this conference, and around 150 talks will be given by researchers working in fields related to Data Analysis and Classification. Special emphasis is put on the presentation, by young researchers, of their works. Support from EC will be welcome to help as many young statisticians as possible to come to the conference. The proposal here is to help 20 young European researchers by a grant of 942 Euro covering fees (198 Euro), subsistence (496 Euro) and a part of the travel cost (248 Euro). The total funding is then of 18840 Euro. The 20 young European researchers will be chosen among all the young European researchers having submitted a paper for publication and/or presentation and having passed successfully the international reviewing process. The best paper will be awarded.
The IFCS 2000 Conference will take place under the auspices of the International Federation of Classification Societies and is organized jointly by the Société Francophone de Classification (France, Belgium, Luxembourg) and the Vereniging voor Ordinatie en Classificatie (The Netherlands, Belgium). The member societies that participate in the IFCS are mainly from European Countries (England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland). The conference promotes the dissimination of technical and scientific information concerning data analysis, classification, related methods, and their applications. The organisers specifically encourage young researchers to attend this conference, and special efforts to this effect will be made for the IFCS 2000 meeting in Namur.
