European Aerosol Conference 2000

Objective

Funding is requested to allow the participation of talented young researchers, who cannot obtain alternative financial support, to attend the European Aerosol Conference 2000. Aerosol science is the science of fine airborne particles, and aerosols have many impacts and applications that are of current importance, both economically and in terms of human health. The European Aerosol Conference, held annually, provides opportunities for aerosol scientists to present their work to the wider community, to discuss the latest developments in the field, and to take home new ideas to influence their own research. The European Aerosol Conference typically attracts delegate numbers in the range 350-500, and always includes an excellent representation of international experts in the field. The 2000 European Aerosol Conference programme will provide comprehensive coverage of the complete range of topics covered by the term "aerosol science". These include Aerosol. Chemistry, Bio-aerosols, Indoor Aerosols, Coarse Dusts, Instrumentation, Combustion Aerosols, Nano-materials, Aerosol Sampling, Environmental Effects, Nuclear Aerosols, Aerosol Standards, Gas Cleaning, Pharmaceutical Aerosols, Atmospheric Aerosols, Health Effects and Ultra-fine Aerosols. The conference programme includes a series of plenary lectures on topics of current interest, delivered by invited experts, and up to 500 oral and poster presentations, for which abstracts must be submitted (and subjected to peer review) by intending presenters.
Young aerosol researchers who, in the opinion of the conference committee, have submitted a high quality scientific abstract, and who have indicated a difficulty in obtaining conference funding from alternative sources, will be considered as the priority recipients of any funding that arises as a result of this proposal. It is envisaged that young researchers from both Member States and Associated States will be supported.
