Objective
This meeting and its satellites bring together crystallographers working in most areas of science (physics, chemistry, biology, mineralogy, applied mathematics). In that way, the crystallographic meeting is interdisciplinary. Satellites are organised before and after the meeting to teach more specific topics (frontiers in macromolecular crystallography, electron density analysis, surface crystallography, texture analysis). All events focuses on methods and important applications.
We are very concerned with training young colleagues who had not the chance to participate in the last 20-30 years in the development of most important crystallographic tools. Therefore, ECM19 + S has to teach the young generations of crystallographers. This has to be done in the 2000-2004 period because soon, all crystallographers who have developed the theory and the tools will retire in the next five years. In conclusion, the main objective of ECM 19 is to keep an excellent crystallographic community at the European level in order to continue the excellent research done.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
