Objective
The International Mouse Genome Conference (IMGC) meets annually to discuss and report on progress in mouse genetics, and genomics. The recently reported draft sequence of the human genome means that the focus in genomics moves from identifying gene content to gene function. The mouse is the principal model mammalian organism: it has essentially the same gene content as human, but these genes can be experimentally manipulated to determine their function. Determination of mouse genomic sequence is presently a high priority, which will aid gene identification and will provide the framework for mouse mutagenic studies.
IMGC2001 will consist of approximately 12 invited lectures who will discuss; the mouse genome sequence and comparative sequence analysis, the use of other model organisms to determine gene function, the bioinformatics tools currently in use and in development and the current state of the art in mouse cloning. All participants will be able to present their data either as selected platform presentation or as posters. In addition, there will be meetings of committees through which mouse genetics business is coordinated; the International Nomenclature Committee and the International Mouse Mutagenesis Consortium will meet at IMGC2001. Other ad hoc groups will be assembled at the conference whose role is to appraise progress and state of the art in several areas of mouse genomics and to produce published reports.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
