Objective
The key objective of the workshop is to review the EU evaluation policy and to analyse the application of program evaluation in various domains (education and culture, regional policy, employment and economic development), with particular attention to the methods used and their utility for improving EU policies.
The workshop is organised to promote an interdisciplinary discussion on the quality of the research that is produced in response to EU demands and on the methodological approaches that can be of use for a further development of quality program evaluation in Europe. Of particular interest is the research being undertaken by young researchers in Europe and the US and the potential utility of new approaches for the evaluation of EU programs.
Another objective of the workshop is to foster the development of networks for joint research and to explore the opportunities that exist for social scientists with regard to the evaluation of EU programs.
The themes of the workshop are: Policy evaluation in Europe, Professional responses to the demand of program evaluation and Policy contexts. The activities of the workshop are: Panel discussions and Symposia (to discuss major evaluations of EU programs) and paper sessions to present preliminary research results.
