Objective
The institute of Analytical Chemistry, Dresden University of Technology, is seeking candidates for a post-doc position within the Marie Curie Development Host Fellowship programme "Molecular Imaging for Label-free Detection in Functional Proteomics". The term appointment will last for two years and offer a salary of 4500 ECU. We require innovative scientists with a Ph.D. in Science, Medicine or Engineering for a challenging involvement in a interdisciplinary research project. The innovation of the planned research project consists in the combination of label-free optical detection with new techniques of micro patterning of biosensitive layers. Sensing DNA molecules remain unchanged in their original shape and thus their original mode of action. The detection scheme is free from feedback to the biomolecules, and it does not exert electromagnetic influence on the biomolecules during analysis. The detection scheme enables high lateral resolution (or high image contrast) without generation optical cross-modulation between different spot of the detector array. This provides the basis for a label-free on-line detection scheme with superior capacity for high throughput screening. Both DNA chips and biomedical imaging are in their early stages of development, but they are rapidly appearing in new areas of research as their capabilities expand. Additional research is needed in miniaturisation and developing intra-cellular applications. Based on the existing competence of the Institute of Analytical Chemistry novel technical developments are feasible and experience from the different science areas shall be combined to improve the understanding of basic principles in bioanalytics. Women are explicitly encouraged to apply. Applications of candidates with heavy disabilities are preferred in case of identical aptitude.
