Potassium channel regulation by kcne proteins in human cardiac tissue

Objective

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Medical Faculty of the Dresden University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral scientist (MD or PhD) experienced in molecular biology techniques. In the project "human cardiac KCNE regulatory proteins", the candidate should complete our group of molecular biologists and electro physiologists with experiences in antisense oligonucleotide techniques and knowledge in cell transfection in heterologous and homologous cell systems. The main research topic will be to study the regional expression and distribution of human cardiac KCNE proteins (homologous with human minK-related protein, MiRP) and their regulatory role on cardiac potassium channels in expression systems and transfected cells. In a new building with excellently equipped laboratories for molecular biology, cell culture and electrophysiology, in a scientific stimulating environment within the center of theoretical medicine (MTZ) and nearby clinics and Max-Planck Institut for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics the candidate will find excellent conditions to extend her/his scientific horizon. The beautiful city of Dresden and the surrounding landscape will certainly contribute to a successful and enjoyable period of research stay in Germany.
