Higher dimensional dynamical systems and entropy balance

Objective

I have been acquainted with László Mátyás since 1997 when he came to our institute from Transyvania (Romania) as a young physicist and Ph.D. student. I became his advisor. He is well educated, has a broad and up-to-date knowledge in the fields of thermodynamics, statistical physics and dynamical system theory. He is a very careful thinker which is illustrated, among others, by his research on the concept of entropy production in maps. By now he has become an expert in modeling transport processes by simple dynamical systems. He is capable to clearly formulate problems, to concentrate on important questions only. Both in teaching and in research Laszló Matyas has always shown outstanding qualities. Due to this fact he has belonged to the best students (10%) in comparison with other students who have equivalent training. I believe that the professional Qualifications of the applicant combined with his personal properties can guarantee full success in his future scientific activities. In conclusion, Laszlo Matyas is a talented young physicist whom I recommend warmly for a Marie Curie fellowship.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
