Regularity methods for evolution equations

Objective

The functional analysis group at the university of Karlsruhe invites applications for postgraduate fellowships to be held in the EU Framework 5 Maria Curie Training site "Regularity for Evolution Equations". The research topics covered by this program include the following: maximal regularity of parabolic differential equations, boundedness of $H^infty$-calculi for elliptic operators, regularity for stochastic parabolic equations, stability of operator semi groups, applications of harmonic analysis and Banach space geometry to evolution equations, spectral theory and Fredholm operators. Successful candidates will also enjoy the close interaction between the analysts of the TULKA group (the functional analysis group of Tuebingen, Ulm and Karlsruhe) which meet frequently for joint seminars and workshops of international scope. We also offer experience with a successful and innovative teaching tool, the yearly TULKA Internet seminar. The functional analysis group currently includes Lutz weis, Peter Volkmann, Maria Girardi, Christoph Schmoeger, Gerd Herzog, Peer Kunstmann, Zeljko Strkalj and four doctoral students. We are part of the large applied analysis wing of our department, which includes groups of in image processing, computational mathematics and stochastic. Our University is now the centre of a thriving high-tech-industry located between the picturesque Black Forest and the Rhine river. A candidate must be a citizen of the EU or an associated state, and must be registered for a Ph.D. in an EU country other than Germany. Studentships can only be awarded for a period between 3 months and 1 year. Applications, including a Curriculum Vitae, a list of publications and a letter of reference, should be sent to Prof. Dr. Lutz Weis Mathematisches Institut I Universitaet Karlsruhe D-76128 Karlsruhe Germany email contact: trainingsite@math.uni-karlsruhe.de

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
