Doctoral research training in cfd and turbulence mechanics

Objective

UK Doctoral Research in CFD and Turbulence Mechanics The CFD and Turbulence Mechanics Research Group within the Department of Mechanical Aerospace and Manufacturing Engineering at UMIST has, for many years, specialized in the development and application of advanced turbulence models and numerical solution strategies. Staff within the group pursue research into turbulence modeling, using non-linear eddy-viscosity models, stress transport schemes and large eddy simulation, and the application, validation and testing of these schemes in complex industrially relevant flows. The group has strong links with many other research organizations, both in the UK and other European countries. The group has been funded as a Marie Curie Training Site, allowing doctoral research students to spend a period of between 3 and 12 months working at UMIST. Applicants must already have been admitted to a doctoral programme within their respective EU institution and will be expected to have a good first-degree or equivalent, and high level English Language skills. For further details contact: Postgraduate Admissions Officer, Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Manufacturing Engineering, UMIST, P.O. Box 88, Manchester M60 1QD, United Kingdom.
