Objective

Description:

The Institut des Hautes Studes Scientifiques is located in the wooded 12-acre domain of Bois-Marie, at Bures-sur-Yvette (20 km from Paris). Environment is very propitious to research with some famous neighbouring scientific institutions. Besides offices for the permanent scientific staff (10 persons) and the technical staff in the scientific building, there are 40 individual offices reserved for visitors, each furnished and equipped with the necessary computer equipment. There is also a computer room, a conference room sitting 90 persons and a meeting room. The library is presently located nearby in what used to be a music pavilion. IH+S is well known for the excellency of the research in mathematics and theoretical physics conducted there, for the freedom offered to its visitors and its scientific staff and for the fructuous exchanges of ideas the permanent staff and the visitors flowing through the Institute. The IH+S cultivates Excellency, Freedom and International Exchange at a level which makes it unique in Europe.
