Objective
Description:
The BGV equipment of CTP is a high speed coater(2000m/min) with on line soft calender and super calander off line. It is specifically designed to perform R&D studies related to surface treatment of coated paper and board. -All the newly developed coating techniques are available on the coater, on 2 stations: unit 1: for coating of 1 paper side at a time; unit 2: for coating of 2 paper sides at a time -The main drying techniques are available: electrical and gas infrared, air flow -Paper and coating colour can be heated to industrial temperatures. The following topics can be studied: -flow behaviour of coating colour as a function of coating parameters in the different coating heads, -base paper behaviour along the coater, soft calender and supercalender:
- drying of coat along the machine;
- calendering as a function of the pressure, temperature and kind of elastic presses.
Main results: activities supported by the contract:
50 experimental days offered to researchers during contractual period
16 proposals have been accepted for 26 proposals submitted
14 users groups have been involved in the different projects
28 individual Users validated their work under industrial conditions
7 different countries had a share in the contract 11 meetings took place.
