Wave flume canal de investigacion y experimentacion maritima ii

Objective

The CIEM flume of LIM/UPC is one of the largest wave flumes in the world for experimentation in the field of maritime and coastal engineering. Its dimensions (100 m length, 3 m width and 5 m depth) and performance make it a very suitable tool for experimental analyses close to the full-scale. The wave flume is indoors and can, thus, be operational independently of weather conditions. The wave generation system is based on a wedge-type wave generator, capable to reproduce waves with heights up to 1.5 m. The control software allows the generation of regular, irregular and solitary waves, and the absorption of waves reflected inside the flume. The measuring equipment available comprises twin-wire resistance wave gauges, pressure transmitters, electromagnetic S-type 2-component current meters, PC-controlled bottom profiler, video image analysis, ADCP and PIV.

Researchers interested in apply for access should submit a proposal, including: Objectives / Motivation of the research project /Work programme / Name and nationalities of the proposers (User Group) / An estimation of required days of use o f the facility. The proposals will peer reviewed by a joint independent Users Se lection Panel. During the contractual period, 48 days of access to the facility are offered.
