Hyperbolic and kinetic equations: asymptotics, numerics, applications

Objective

In view of its central position in modern applied science, an applied mathematics approach which integrates modeling, analysis, and numerics in the field of hyperbolic and kinetic equations is a key training ground for young applied mathematicians. Such training will be an excellent starting point for academic as well as nonacademic, industrial careers. All the network groups already have a long international experience in training young applied mathematicians at the M. Sc., Ph. D., and post doc level. This experience will be used to make sure that workshops, meetings, and other network activities not only produce good science but really meet the training needs of the younger network participants. The industry aspect of the training will be enhanced by the excellent industry relations of several key members of the network as well as by the advice of the Industrial Advisory Board.
