Objective
Scientific and technological progress often has a great impact on all actors of a society and is not limited to national boundaries, as developments related to health, safety or employment. While the public is addressed as "recipient", they rarely have possibilities to respond. The Science Call project is to offer a telephone dialogue hotline system that directly, individually and proficiently provides information on S&T in Europe and enables the public to make own statements and estimations. In order to achieve broad international effort, media partners covering the print branch will be committed to start a series on 5 current topics of European interest during the European Week on S&T 2002. Each item will be backed by a network of hotlines of the participating countries. The questions are answered by scientist. The activity will last for 5 days and will be followed up by a comprehensive evaluation.
