Space weather and europe

Objective

The project aims to promoting and raising public awareness during the European Science and Technology Week in November 2002 on the topic of "space weather", an astronomical phenomenon due to Sun cycle activities (solar flares, Coronal mass ejections) .Until now this phenomenon is not really known to a larger public . However like other astronomical phenomena and topics it bears a great potential for public interest. Space weather can have significant impacts on every day life (electricity cut offs, telecommunication satellite damages, changes on the accuracy of GPS navigation satellite signals). The objective is to promote also European Scientific Excellence on this subject and to encourage the ESA-EU cooperation in space related matters. Various multimedia means (Video, CD-ROM, Internet, connection to International Space Station) will be used at the Space Weather during ESTW.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
