Objective
Kids and Science (KaS) is aimed at children in the 12-14 year range, before they start making career decisions at school. KaS uses the Internet to prepare them for a week in a Science Village as well as to provide essential continuity after this experience. In the Science Village, each week some hundred of kids from different countries interact with KaS staff and young, enthusiastic scientists from industry in projects and one-to-one discussions. This accompanying measure project will show that the Science Village concept can be considered as 'best practice' in interesting kids in the natural sciences. This proposal describes the work in a one year period needed to demonstrate the web-site, the preparation of the project content for the Science Village, the identification of options for the location of the Village, and the demonstration of this inherently new approach.
