Objective
The Christian churches have great influence on European people's values and activities. They have also been a driving force in post-war European integration, even though their role in this process has not been studied properly. The project has a historical and a modern dimension. Its main goal is to give a clearer picture of the churches in the Cold War and in European integration. These themes are analysed both from historical and from theological viewpoints. The project is implemented in individual research, workshops, conferences and publications. The results benefit decision-making concerning the material, mental and spiritual well-being of Europeans as well as questions of religious freedom. They can also assist in solving today's cultural, political and even military conflicts. The project has a direct impact on academic education, ecumenical activities, as well as on youth education.
