The importance of housing systems in safeguarding social cohesion in europe

Objective

The proposed project is a contribution to the fourth research task.
The subject of this research is the new challenges faced by Europe in preserving and promoting social cohesion in the context of increasing international competition and globalisation. Since housing systems are a very important factor in the continual reproduction of social cohesion, the current project is intended to research by international comparison, which challenges to the housing systems of the individual states result from the current crisis of social cohesion and how the various housing systems are responding to these challenges. This study takes a multi-disciplinary approach with comparative processing of national statistics on the development of socio-economic structures and housing. Since the six states chosen as subjects of comparison exhibit a vast range of various demo- graphic, socio-economic and cultural conditions, the results of the study will contribute to solving the problems at European level.
