Objective
The proposal undertakes an exploratory theoretical and methodological approach on the quality of employment. Since Lisbon and Nice summits, promotion of quality has become one of the most important items in European construction in social and employment fields. The concept of quality of employment has been introduced in the European Social Agenda. The proposal intends to seize the concept, via the scope of capabilities employment offers to its holders in term of effective freedom of choice. It concerns the range of possibilities in terms of: mobility and promotion within the firm, freedom to conciliate work and private life, access to social protection of different types, as well as more employability on the labour market. The work is following and adapting the works of Amartya Sen (whose capability is a core concept in his conception of well-being and of economic development). The proposal is focused on statistical indicators making comparison possible.
