Objective
The project proposes a Conference on "New Science and Technology Based Professions in Europe", in view of contributing to the advancement of the European Research Area and in line with the Key Action "Improving the Socio-Economic Knowledge Base". Increasing needs for knowledge are expected to create new jobs in Science and Technology. Most such jobs however will correspond to new types of careers rather than to traditional academic or industrial professions. The Conference will anticipate the profile and the volume of these new careers, compare training schemes helping young scientists to cope with them, and propose ways to make Europe more attractive for new jobs. Major actors of new needs (industrialists, bankers, representatives of insurance companies and services will discuss these issues with academics, science managers, trade-unionists and young scientists organisations. organisations.
