Metadata management and production system for empirical socio-economic research

Objective

The project develops a Metadata Management and Production System for simple to complex Social Science surveys, based on the comprehensive experiences of the partners and analysis of user needs. Preservation and publication of metadata for a growing comparative database are central for validation and cumulation of knowledge based on empirical evidence. It enables data producers and providers to manage small to large collections of metadata, especially to make metadata capture at the source more efficient. MetaDater supports management and production tasks for existing and new databases. This includes the transfer of metadata to user front-ends. MetaDater is an infrastructure instrument to supply researchers with reliable, high quality, standardized and durable information about Social Science Survey data. It helps to enhance the general quality of metadata in social research and facilitate access to comparative databases.
