Objective
This project explores the impact of the socio-economic and legal contexts on the life Courses of immigrants and ethnic minorities in the post-migration-phase. Starting from the often stated limited upward mobility of immigrants, the integration of different decision models will allow for an improved understanding of their coping strategies. Supported by event history analysis and optimal matching as a tool for sequence analysis, 3.900 individual life trajectories of immigrants in seven European countries will be analyzed in the temporal context of the respective community histories and macro economic indicators such as labor market data and legal frameworks in the selected cities and countries. The projected results will be an extensive database with conclusions for future policy development in relation to immigrants.
