Objective
Foresight exercises have taken place at national level around the world. However, at regional level there are few examples of foresight actions and the methods for regional programmes are not codified and validated. We will develop a consortium to accompany the STRATA FOREN network with 'learning-by-doing' actions to test its findings and contribute lessons learnt 'in-the-field'. Our objective is not only to supplement FOREN; participation will give a head start in using leading-edge regional foresight methods. We will use the 'Four Motors' as a platform. The 'Motors' is an established partnership of Catalunya, Rhone Alpes, Lombardia and Baden Wurtemburg.
Each regional team will select two sectors and devise a method to address such issues as:
how to deploy the data from national foresight exercises;
how to introduce fore sighting to SMEs;
interesting 'low technology' firms in foresight issues.
Projects will be monitored to capture and disseminate policy lessons.
