Gender aspects in medical education in comparison to european medical education programmes

Objective

This proposal shall enable medical professionals to develop new concepts for curricula and medical education under the aspect of gender dimensions in medicine. The study will support the development in the field of the socio-economic knowledge base. It shall act as an example for further examinations or studies and set sings for other medical schools / universities. Results of women's studies and gender studies being subject of sociology, history and public health will be transferred into medical education and medical research. A data base will be available on the net to ensure communication flow between groups dealing with medical problems and gender aspects as well as international contacts. As European partner Prof. Lesley Doyal from Bristol, UK, will co-operate with our institution to establish gender studies in medical education.
