Objective
Rehabilitation of the AVALLONS dam (OUNIERE-SUR-EYRIEUX - Ardeche - France) to demonstrate a new DURAWATT turbine equipped with a generator connected with an innovative gear. The dam will have two per irrigation and production of electricity.
A multipurpose project for irrigation and electricity production by reconstitution of the Avallons dam/Ardeche. Use of hydropotential by means of two "Durawatt" units. These units consist of two Kaplan turbines (one with fixed blades, the other with movable blades) are coupled to generators by high performance tangential step-up gears (wheel & screw). Step-up gears are specially developed for compact arrangement of turbine & generator resulting in reduced powerhouse dimensions & easier maintenance. Total capacity of the pilot plant: 450 kW with a flow capacity of 8 cums each & a gross head of 4 m. Proposed equipment adjustable for conditions in isolated rural areas (eg developing countries).
