HYDRO-ELECTRICITY FROM THE DRINKING WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM OF LA MURE/FRANCE

Objective

Recovery of hydro-electric power from an existing drinking-water supply pipeline (LA MURE FRANCE) for sale to Electricite de France.

The aim of the project is to exploit the hydraulic energy of an existing drinking water conduit supplying a small community. With a constant discharge capacity throughout the year of 75 L/S and a net head of 143 m, max. output of the hydropower plant is 86 kW. The installation consists of a single jet Pelton turbine for constant flow directly coupled with an asynchronous generator. Operation of plant would be fully automatic.
