Objective
It is intended to install three small Pelton turbines in an existing drinking water supply conveyance system to replace the installed breakpressure tanks and to generate electricity.
The turbines are of the vertical axis type and provided with asynchronous generators feeding via a step-up transformer into the public grid. All three turbines are to be controlled by micro-processors and remotely monitored by a solar/wind powered central computer. The total energy produced per year is 449,280 kWh and the estimated payback is 4 years.
Vertical axis, impulse turbines will be installed, one at each of three break pressure tanks in an existing water supply system. The turbines will all drive aynchronous generators which will be connected via step-up transformers to a 10 kV overhead line for connection to the local grid. All the turbines will be controlled and monitored by individual microprocessors which will automatically download data via a telephone line to a central computer.
